Knock Kneed Lobster
About This Spot
Stepping into Knock Kneed Lobster feels like finding a familiar corner of the neighborhood where the ocean’s flavors have quietly set up shop. This seafood spot carries a laid-back vibe that’s imbued with a kind of timeless charm—something you don’t always find in the rush of Phoenix dining. Here, the pace slows just enough to let the comfort of honest, well-prepared food take center stage.
The modest interior and unpretentious atmosphere invite you to settle in without fuss or pretense. It’s the kind of place where locals might drop by after work or gather with old friends, sharing stories over generous plates of fish and chips or a well-grilled lobster tail. The air hums softly with the sounds of friendly chatter and the quiet rhythm of a kitchen focused on doing one thing well rather than many things poorly.
Knock Kneed Lobster doesn’t ask for your attention through flashiness, but rather through the warmth of its simple, satisfying menu—comfort seafood classics made with care. From flaky, tender seafood cooked just right to side dishes that complement without overshadowing, there’s a hands-on, homey feel in every bite. The hearty portions and familiar flavors offer a quiet kind of indulgence, like a favorite memory of a beachside shack brought to the heart of Phoenix.
Many who visit find themselves drawn not just to the food, but to the enduring spirit of the place—the steady presence of longtime staff, the echoes of conversations that span decades, and a general sense of being part of something comfortably rooted. It’s not a place striving to reinvent seafood, but one that quietly honors what’s been done well for years. In an evolving city, Knock Kneed Lobster stands as a gentle reminder that good food and good company don’t need to be complicated.

First time here, ate with a friend on their recommendation. I had the broiled cod with fries and fried zucchini. The fish was delicious. The zucchini could have been in the fryer 2 more minutes, it wasn't quite done. But over all great place.

This place is awesome! It has been there for decades. We had not been there in quite some time. Ended up close and saw it was still open. Was concerned based on some negative reviews. We went in anyway. Gal at the counter had been there since the last time we went. This place is unique and always has been. It is not a five star dining area. It is what it has always been. Good hot food served at a good price. We enjoyed the fish and chips. Onion rings tasty too. Fun atmosphere. Good customer service without an attitude. Tables and floor were clean. Did I mention the food was hot and right out of the fryer when they called our number? Condiments tasted fresh. You fill your own drinks. We found nothing to complain about. We will go back the next time we are in the area. Hopefully it will not be as long of a wait as this last time.

Hey, I gave it 5 stars, but what do I know? I've only lived the last 32 years in Alaska. Any place that uses wild Alaskan cod is good in my book. When I cook cod or halibut I invariably overcook it, leaving it dry. My cod was cooked perfectly. As Gordon Ramsay would say, it was glistening. Was it as good as Cod you would get in the North of England or Sitka, Alaska? No. But I prefer beer batter. The coating was more of a southern catfish type coating (I abhor catfish ... If I had seen catfish instead of cod on the menu, I would have walked out). The service was very friendly and accurate, the place is clean and business is steady. Coleslaw was creamy and fries were hot and not overcooked, perfect for soaking up malt vinegar. Thank you for serving sustainable wild Alaskan seafood. (One point off for the weird, over breaded shrimp.)

Absolutely delicious!!!! I ordered a plate of fish n chips and it was absolutely delicious. It was breaded perfectly to the amount of fish that each piece contained. Each piece was a decent size and tasted great. Fish was very moist and well cooked. The "chips" we cooked very well also and were also delicious. Their customer service and the atmosphere was great. They had a fountain drink area where you could refill your drinks and also a sauce bar with tartar sauce, ketchup, ranch and cocktail sauce options so you could get as much sauce as you needed. You could even pay to take a good amount home. The tartar sauce was also absolutely delicious and some of the best I've ever tasted. I will be back to explore their menu.
